Questions & Answers
Where are you located?
I am located in Spring Valley, Ca.
How long will our session be?
Depending on the type of session, it may take any where from 1-4 hrs. I like to take a relaxed approach. I don't like to rush my sessions, this allows me the time to build a relationship with you & your family, allowing a more comfortable atmosphere. The relaxed setting allows for parents to attend to their children as needed. For newborn sessions, this allows time for feedings, or anything else your baby needs to be happy and sleepy. For maternity sessions it allows time for mommy's to sit down and take a break or take one of those many bathroom breaks.
Feel free to bring snacks, favorite toys, favorite blankets, anything that makes your child feel comfortable.
Where is our session held?
Sessions take place in my home studio where the room is temperature controlled to keep your newborn nice and toasty. This is also where I have all of my props and studio lighting. Sessions are best done within the first 7-14 days of birth, to avoid baby acne and colick, which some babies develop somewhere 2-3 weeks after birth. The older a newborn becomes, the less deeply they sleep and stronger they become, losing their fetal tuck. This makes it difficult to create those beautiful, sleeping curled up images you see in my newborn portfolio. Time is of the essence when it comes to this very special type of photography.
What do we wear?
Clothing for sessions should be simple and comfortable, please avoid busy prints and logos, it takes away from the photos. My favorite outfit is a solid black short sleeved shirt or button up shirt and jeans for dad, and a tank top and jeans or spaghetti strap dress for mom.
What should we bring?
- bring extra diapers
- a pacifier (even if you don't plan on allowing one in the long term- all rules are temporarily out the door for this session)
- extra formula if bottle feeding or supplementing for 4-5 feedings.
- Dress newborns in something that can easily snapped off, and avoid too many layers. I do not want to disturb your baby too much trying to undress them. Please remember to bring warm clothes for them to go home in.
-bring anything you feel will make your baby smile and feel comfortable. Their favorite toys, especially those that make noise and will get their attention, blankies, snacks. Of course extra diapers and wipes.
Please DO NOT bring any extra family members or anyone who is not being photographed, and please leave your camera at home. This is very distracting for the child and photographer. After all, you commissioned me to create your portraits right?
